Having to deal with the Dep’t of Education about your child’s IEP needs can be frustrating to say the least.  You know what your child needs and rather than working with you for your child’s best interest, it is like they are working against you.  Three year ago the DoE declassified my daughter’s IEP leaving her with no related services. My husband and I were beside ourselves trying to understand how the decision to remove OT and PT from a child who was born with one hand could be made.  We decided to dispute their decision and move to an Impartial.  We were so lucky to find ourselves in the offices of Tamara Roff.

Tammi was absolutely amazing.  She not only knows her way around SpEd law; that is a given.  She actually took the time to really know and understand our daughter’s disability and how it does and can affect not only her academics but also her social daily life skills. She worked with the physical and occupational therapists who had been working with our daughter for years so that she had as clear of a picture of our daughter’s needs as we did.  Tammi took the time to learn about our family and how we function together.  When Tammi spoke on behalf of our daughter she spoke with our voice.  We never expected this kind of attention to detail but because of it I never questioned Tammi’s advice or decisions in handling our Impartial.  Not only did we win the Impartial we know that the DoE heard our voice.

I recommend Tammi Roff without a moment’s pause or hesitation.  She is a true advocate for children.

The legal community is blessed with many talented Attorneys and Tammi Roff is amongst that elite cadre of professionals. Most importantly she combines legal knowledge with sound practical counsel all enveloped within a genuine warm and caring concern. As a parent of a special needs child the enormous daily challenges are intensified by the  travails of navigating the educational system and we have been blessed that Tammi Roff has compassionately guided and represented us in our advocacy for our child.

Tuneria Taylor, Esq. has been a godsend to my family, and has been the voice for our son Christopher who was diagnosed with a processing delay. She is truly an activist for school children diagnosed with learning disabilities.  She is very honest, patient and thorough. We met with her to review our notes and Christopher’s school records and discussed how we were forced to find a new school for Christopher because the NYC DOE was unable to provide him with his educational needs.  She identified where the New York City Department of Education failed him and followed through to a successful outcome.

After attempting to provide Christopher with the education that he rightfully deserved, NYC DOE told us that they were unable to provide the services he needed. However, they never offered an alternative solution or placement for him at an accredited educational institution.  Taking matters into our own hands, we took him out and enrolled him in a private school, which provides differentiated instructional programming for children with specific learning disabilities. After paying tuition costs from our own funds, I was not reimbursed from our School District and was not given any assurance that we would be reimbursed. The NYC Department of Education abandoned our son.

Seeking justice for our son and reimbursement for his very costly education costs, we turned to Ms. Tuneria Taylor. She took the time to explain all the steps of the proceedings and walked us through each step.  She took Christopher's case, worked on his behalf for what was rightfully his, and ultimately tuition reimbursement was granted. Even after we were granted reimbursement and her work was essentially done, she has followed up to see how Christopher is doing.

My family owes a great deal of gratitude for Ms. Roff and Ms. Taylor’s attentiveness, thoroughness and empathy through years of educational cases on behalf of my special needs son. They have watched and assisted my son in growing into the amazing young man he is today. Without their expertise, professionalism and strong commitment, his life course thus far would have been very different.
